The Southern Hotel was built in 1790 as a private residence. This graceful federal building began operation as a hotel in 1805 and was known for the finest accommodations between Natchez and St Louis. It was famous for fine food, busy gambling rooms and the first pool hall west of the Mississippi. We spent time in the mid- 1980s transforming it with all the modern amenities and restoring The Southern Hotel back to its former glory as the largest, oldest brick building west of the Mississippi in North America. The building is the longest continually operated lodging in the United States west of the Mississippi. Each of our guest rooms contains a unique collection of country Victorian antiques and delightful “whimsies”. We’ve installed state of the art comfort systems and private baths to provide the perfect accommodations for a quiet get-away or a memorable celebration. We’ve also restored the large front parlors, the spacious dining room and the game room so that our guests experience all the charms of the past. The grounds, buildings (11,500sg ft.) & business for sale.

We are a river town with all the friendliness, charm, and ambiance of an age gone by. Shopping is available in the blocks of small stores offering a variety of Missouri lifestyle options. Dining is available for every pocketbook whether it is a four course gracious dinner with wine and conversation, an authentic Irish meal, barbeque, pizza, or a hamburger and fries, we've got it. Don't forget the authentic Irish pub and the oldest continuously operating tavern west of the Mississippi. McCormick's Distillery is in Weston as well as three wineries. We have two venues capable of accommodating large events like weddings or family reunions. There are five bed and breakfasts and one hotel in Weston. All of us are as busy as we want to be. Weston Bend State Park is within walking distance with miles of hiking trails. Five miles down the road is Snow Creek Ski Resort. Our home is a Queen Anne Victorian built around 1900. It is 3,072 square feet of living space for the bed and breakfast guests with a spacious apartment for the innkeepers. There are three B and B units on the second floor of the Victorian house. We also use the two bedroom cottage next door as a part of the bed and breakfast. The cottage may also be for sale if desired. The main building has been a bed and breakfast for 26 years. In 2001 we closed the B and B for five years to renovate which included new plumbing, electrical wiring, roof, siding, sidewalks, wallpaper and flooring. Please visit our bed site for pictures. We wish to sell our bed and breakfast because, at our age, it is time to move on. If interested, call Dick and Dotty.
