Historic Rivercene is a magnificent 12,000 square foot mansion built by the industrious riverboat baron Captain Joseph Kinney. His fleet carried pasengers and freight from New Orleans to Montana, a single trip earning up to $50,000. Featured on HGTV, in an NBC documentary, and in numerous magazine features, the home was built of the finest materials with the help of European artisans. Rivercene has 11 fireplaces, Italian marble, 300 pound walnut doors, and an elegant hand-carved mahogany staircase graces the entry. The State of Missouri copied the architectural plan for the present Governor's mansion in Jefferson City, and Rivercene is listed in the National Registry of Historic Places. In 1992 the Kinney family sold the home which, after much restoration, was opened in May of 1993 as a country inn, only to close in July due to the devastation of The Great Flood! Rivercene was again restored and opened in January of 1994. The home was purchased by Donn Upp and Joe Ely in January 2011. Rivercene has undergone additional restoration back to the Second Empire Victorian of the 1860's. Rivercene's large rooms feature queen-sized beds, sitting areas and private baths. The History is as rich as the property itself. Joe and Donn are bringing Rivercene back to it's original historic nature. Come and join us for an overnight stay in our grand home!
